Sam the Plumber Has an iPad

I’ve been testing my new iPad pretty hard over the last week. I like the Goodreader app that lets you read PDFs and several other kinds of files. I’ve been using it to read manuscripts that friends of mine have sent me, and it’s a lot nicer than reading them on the computer or on my Kindle.

I also tested the Keynote app which imports both PowerPoint and Keynote files and lets you view them as presentations. Ironically, it worked fine when I imported a PowerPoint file from my laptop, but it failed to import a Keynote file I had made because the version of Keynote on my laptop is not the latest version. :( So the iPad is BETTER at reading files created on Microsoft products than it is at reading files created on Macs.

My latest humor column just came out. In it, my mythical plumber, Sam, has recently become unbelievably wealthy and now owns an iPad (his limo driver convinced him to buy one). Want to know how Sam got rich so fast without working hard? Of course you do. But can he STAY rich?

Sam quit. What a delightful surprise that must have been for you! So you’re sending him and driver out to pasture…umm…up the river…courtesy of dodge…I mean, doj. I’d say that, plus now owning 2 ipads, is pretty decent compensation for holding in years of silent rage. Still, I’m gonna’ miss the fella…a weeeeeee bit.

Thanks Randy, I love your column. It never fails to hit the spot when I need a side-splitting laugh! :) ))

Great post, Randy. So Sam’s looking to hold on to newfound wealth, huh? We’ll see.

    Randy,
I laughed myself silly over this. (Of course, that’s not too far a journey, some folks say). You and Sam should take your show on the road. I’ll bet we could sell out the State Fair Music Hall.
Thanks for helping me start the day with a smile.

Hope you manage to explainify the iPad. And I guess maybe Sam’ll be back soon.

This made me smile today–I’m still laughing, what a hoot! I loved Sam’s way of um…explaining things.
