Writing Fiction Is Hard Work! Designing A Well Structured Storyline Is Harder Yet. Creating Strong Characters Is Hardest Of All.

Snowflake CD

I'm Randy Ingermanson, and I've written six award-winning novels. Each one was tough to write. But the later novels were a LOT easier than the earlier ones.

Why? Because one day I realized that it was simpler to design my storylines and create my characters BEFORE I wrote my novels. That way, I was able to spend more of my writing time being creative and less of my writing time worrying about whether it was all going to fit together into a cohesive design.

I put my ideas together into an organizational tool that I call the "Snowflake method" which I published on my web site a few years ago. That has become the most popular page on my web site and has been viewed over 300,000 times. The Snowflake method has made me famous around the world as the "Snowflake guy."

I love using the Snowflake method to write my novels. It's made me incredibly more effective as a novelist. I'm constantly hearing from writers around the globe that the Snowflake method has freed them up to write the novel of their dreams.

I speak at writing conferences all the time, and I love teaching the Snowflake method. My Snowflake lecture is one of the most popular talks I've ever given.

If you'd like to hear me speak on the Snowflake method, I've got bad news and good news. The bad news is that I'm only scheduled to teach the Snowflake at one conference this year (2007).

The good news is that I've recorded my Snowflake Lecture and put it into an audio/visual presentation which you can download RIGHT NOW and play in ANY web browser on ANY computer, Mac, PC, or Linux.

And I'll throw in a bundle of extra files -- the "Snowflake Goodies Package" -- that will help you learn the Snowflake method inside out! The Snowflake Goodies Package contains: 45 pages of PowerPoint notes for the Snowflake Lecture; an easy-to-print PDF file that contains the contents of my Snowflake web page; an empty Character Chart (for Step 7 of the Snowflake) in PDF, RTF, and Microsoft Word formats; a PARTIAL example Snowflake for my novel Premonition, in PDF format; and a PARTIAL example spreadsheet (Step 8 of the Snowflake) for my novel Premonition, in PDF and Microsoft Excel formats.

Different people have different learning styles, so I've designed a well-rounded set of learning materials that will be useful to everybody.

If you're an auditory learner, then you'll enjoy listening to the Snowflake Lecture on your computer or in your iPod. (Or you can burn it to a CD and play it in your car.)

If you're a visual learner, then you can pore over the 45 page PowerPoint notes that I use when speaking on the Snowflake method. These notes expand just a bit on the info in the Snowflake page on my web site. (I've learned a few things in the years since I first posted that page.)

If you're a tactile learner, then you can open up the computer files and play with them. Go ahead and fiddle with the example Excel file! You won't break it. Fill out the character template for one of your characters and see if you understand him or her better! Print out the PDF file on real paper and mark it up in your favorite color of ink!

I'm not going to give you a hard sell here. You either want to hear me speak on the Snowflake method or you don't. If you want it, then you don't care how much it costs.
