What do you mean "my" latest humor column? I think we can all agree Sam has stolen it. Sorry, Randy.

Despite their aloof reputation, cats are sensitive creatures. They know when their support is needed.

Forget Sam. It's Zephyr's opinion that counts.

BTW - Randy, could you change your feedblitz settings to notify subscribers as soon as a new post posts instead of at some insane hour of the night? Or is there a perfectly good reason for this torture? Is Sam behind this?

Randy,

Sorry. I don't understand Sam's latest point. You've written a lot about getting famous, in the sense of getting known for a particular niche. In part, Sam is saying, "Get on with it, despite the odds."

The fame associated with Joe the Plumber is a Black Swan event (Google "Fooled by randomness"). Nice when it happens, perhaps (is all publicity good publicity?).

And then the article concludes with an anti-fame message from Zephyr. A message that probably helps most of us keep getting out of bed each morning, despite knowledge of odds.

Yes, all publicity is good publicity, as evidenced by Captain Jack Sparrow.

Norrington: "You're about the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

Jack: "But you *have* heard of me."

A quotation from the 1980s TV series Fame, of all places

- I'm already famous but not many people know it yet

It's my mantra!
