Thanks Randy. I don't use blogger to count stats. I have a separate javascript dealie (statcounter) that measures actual hits per day, hour, by location, etc. I used to use Google analytics, but found it too complicated.

That's great news about authority and rank. RelevantBlog is doing very well, then. I had no idea!

Thanks for taking this up, Randy. I'm married to a wonderful guy who knows more computer stuff than I ever will, but he admits that teaching is not his skill. So getting information out of his head and into mine, and vice versa, is a difficult process when it comes to what he is good at. You are helping me communicate the why and wherefore when I request changes.
Yesterday I showed him the hard numbers from your e-zine and he finally agreed that my (as yet unstarted) blog should be on my website.

Thanks, Randy, for the great information. I just found out my authority on Technorati is 27 and my rank, 305,717. I consider myself a novice at blogging (less than 6 months) and am interested in refining the process, but not obsessed with it. I also use Stat Counter for my blog and website. Although they are not incorporated, I do have a blog link on each page of my website (per your advice a while back). I know people are moving back and forth between the two. My web is fairly static--about me, photos, writing samples, a few helps. It could be better and is one of those Intermediate goals on my list. Sorry to ramble, just want you to know I appreciate the daily care and feeding you do with your readers :-)

Hi, I'm technically challenged, too. It is nice to know that even those who know a lot about the web (see Mary's comment) are learning things, too. It's helped me relax.

Randy,

I'm teaching a course on web design for homeschooled middle and high schoolers. Could I use your list of questions in this post with them?
